Description
This is a walking tour about the rich history of Johannesburg. We will see old architecture along with history, interact with the locals and take great photos. Walking through the City of Gold will make you feel the hustle and bustle of the people, lifestyle and culture of Jozi.
Itinerary
We will start at Museum Africa, in Newtown, then move on to the Workers Museum, the last surviving municipal compound for African men in Johannesburg. We will then continue our walk to Chancellor House, where Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo set up South Africa's first black-owned law firm. We continue to Main Street, which has some of the best old buildings in the city. Main Street will lead us to Gandhi Square, a busy urban hub of commercial and retail activity. From there we will move on to the Top of Africa, which has the tallest skyscraper on the continent. After Carlton, we will take local transport to Maboneng, an arts neighborhood for a Braai lunch (vegan & vegetarian friendly).
